  • The weather has taken another change for now it is raining and turning a little colder again, But we got all summer to ride the trails, But now with these gas prices going up again if they get much higher I really don't think that no one is going to be going anywhere, and you know who is going to take the hit is all the Parks if you can't afford the gas to get there who is going to go, and then our goverment give's the big oil companies a Hugh Tax Break, Yea and then they turn around and screw us the people we're the one's who need the tax break not these people who make over a 10000.00 a year, I guess it is like our parents always said it is always the small guy who ends up paying for anything and the rich has to prectect there our and the hell with the little guy

  • We made our way to another part of the Allegheny Passage today, This time we rode from Markleton to Garrett that is a 13 mile ride one way and to say the least we had to ride back to the car we only took the one car this time due to gas prices but anyway with everywhere we went it was a 26 1/2 mile ride at least that is what the GPS said it was I always carry the GPS in fact I have a carrier on the bike for it and it is on the whole time we ride on the one section of it that gives us the speed and the mileage that we went that is one fecture that I like and it works that is the main thing here are some pictures that I took today enjoy

  • We made out way to another trail on Saturday it wasn't the Frostburg trip tho, It just wasn't in the cards for that ride we did however did go to another trail and I have to say that before this trail on all of the other ones I really enjoyed but this trail to my dismay is alful Like I said all of the other trails I really enjoyed riding but this one really is bad in fact they had so much Junk on the trail it really was a little dangerous in a way if you wasn't watching where you were going and the smell of the place was just rotten like a sawer to say that I didn't have a good time is a understatment and man the trail it self with the hills man a hugh 8% grade that is a hugh hill, So we went to the lower half of the trail in a different section they have these stepts that we would have to walk up and carry our bikes and there must have been about 200 to 300 steps to go up and to think they expected us to carry our bikes and all the grear on the bikes up these stepts that is a little nuts so needless to say that trail is totally off our list and also is on the list not to go back to for sure so then we went to another one and the same thing it really wasn't a very good one for us either so I guess we'll just stick to the ones that are around here and just a little bit to the south of us and to the east of us, I guess I keep execpting them to be like the Lower Trail in Blair County and to the Allegheny Trail in Somerset they are two of the nice's trails that we have been on this yeat But we can not count out the Ghost Town Trail that is also a very nice trail so the three of them are the best ones that we have found so far but like I said to my buddy we wouldn't have known if we didn't go and check it out so now we know, I took some pictures of that trail but it is not worth the trrouble of going to get them and post them if they were nice I wouldn't have a second thought of posting them but the way it is now it just isn't worth the trouble

  • Well We were planing a trip down to Frostburg MD for another bike ride from Frostburg to Big Savage Tunnel But the weatherman kind of put the stops to that ride for at least for now the way that the weather services is talking they have a chance of 80% chance of rain and I am one person who really don't like to ride in the rain at least this early in the season, So the way it looks I guess we are going to try The West Penn Trail down around New Alexander then we can at least get then one under our belt that trail goes to Blairville and onward to Pittsburgh, What we're trying to do is get the faraway places in first before Gas gets any higher and it just seems like some of these trails are a good distant away it takes a little bit of time to get there in a car so we can ride them, Even tho we have the Ghost Town Trail right out front we have already been on that one a lot from End To End in fact we rode all of it execpt the part where they have 2 bridges out and once they get them in we will of course ride that part more in likely go from Ebensburg to Josephine in Blacklick  But for now this year in the past few weeks that we have been ridding we got all of the Lower Trail in Blair County in and also Meyersdale part of the Allengeny Passage after we get the Frostburg part done we will have about 1/4 of that trail done also But on the bright side of it all at least it is helping to keep us healthy, I will find out when I go to the Heart Doctor for my 6 month check up I just hope that everything is Ok

Well got to go for now so take care and I'll post pictures of Tomorrow ride on this site so for now God Bless

  •  We got another trail done at least at little bit of it this time it was The Great Allegheney Passage this is also a very nice trail but man is it full of supprises and it just wasn't as easy as The Lower Trail this one has a lot of viaducts and bridges and the Keystone Viaduct is just about 1/2 mile long and I have to truthfully say that it is really something to see, along with this is on this trail is the Eastern Continental Divide which it is very interesting then from there you go to the Big Savage Tunnel you get to go threw and man was that a little bit cold going threw there But I have to say that we had a great time and are presently plaining another trip there to get to another part of the trail depending on gas prices that is Here are a few pictures of the day we had I hope that you enjoy them as much as we do

  • We took our first ride of 2007 on the Ghost Town Trail today, I went from the Apt buldg to Caroline Street then onto the trail towards East High Street then I turned around and rode back to Caroline Street then off to the majior part of the trail to what I call the Beula Bridge, Turned around and all up hill back to the Burg, all total it comes out to around 8 miles round trip, and I have to say I did have a little trouble coming back my dang knees started to hurt a little bit on the way back you would think that after that 34 mile ride we had the last time we rode about a week or more ago, It wouldn't be too bad but I guess the hill's back here are just a little bit larger then the hills at the Lower Trail but then again that trail is out of the Mountains and I have to be truthful here that is a very nice trail not that the Ghost Town Trail isn't nice but the best part of the Ghost Town Trail is between Ebensburg to Dilltown, The rest of it is in Coal County and the wather stinks and is orange and that in it's self really doesn't make a very good ride, Where as the Lower Trail has fishable waters and best of all no smell, But anyway I will get use to this trail up here with gas going up the way it has who can go anywhere to ride execpt here at home.

Untill next time God Bless and have a great day

  • Well I guess that it is going to be a while till we get to go bike ridding again, The weather has changed against us, We are getting snow again and you know this is getting old fast even tho it is still early spring but I would like at least a little bit of warmer weather, But anyway that doesn't mean that we can't plan where we would like to go and start fining the trail heads and everything, and looking at the maps of the area on the trail's web site the maps gives us a good idea what to expected and how the trail is layed out and what is around them,

The trail in Altoona ( The Lower Trail ) that one is really layed out real nice, and about half way threw the trail there are place's where you can get drink's and a sandwich and that really makes it nice that trail is just about 17 miles one way and for the round trip it is 34 miles but it is really very nice ridding and there is a lot of nature to see and enjoy

  •                    Happy Easter

We had a very beautiful service at Church this mooring, It was a service to remember they had the Bells playing with a trumpet and the Chours All together it was very nice and I am very sure that all enjoyed it as much as I did

My Wife had dinner waiting for me when I got home, and Her and I spend the rest of the day reading our new books that we got yesterday, But then again the weather was not that great Would you believe that we had 2 inches of snow on the ground when we got up this mooring here it is April and it is still snowing for one I just can't wait till the weather gets back to normal when we get warmer weather The way the old saying is April Showers bring May Flower's but what is it when April Snows Brings ?

  • Well talk about a bad day, I was in the second half of my workout and to my supprise the peddle on the carido bike snaped off just my luck, and the bike is a very important part of the workout I usually go from the tredmill to the bike then back to the tredmill then back to the bike again and that is the workout and I have to say that after the workout I feel so much better and now the whole workout is now cut in half for now I notifity the Building Manager and he said that he'll try to get it fixed ASAP and that he'll try to see if he has another bolt to fit it I sure hope that he does,

I guess I'll be going to Altoona tomorrow to Dick's Sporting Goods they have some bike stuff that I want to check into for my biking for the summer when I ride the Trails that is another thing that I really enjoy with this stupid weather I won't be ridding for at least a week with the snow coming in again, the way that the weatherman is talking we are going to have snow till around next Thursday, I am getting so tried of the snow and the cold weather I just can't wait till the middle of the month when it finally gets to some warmer weather and we can get out and ride I have already been out on one of the trails and I have to say that it is a bit of a drive in the car to get there but it is really worth it I have posted pictures of the ride in a earlier posting

Here it is one of the most Holy days of the year when our Lord died for all of our sins, It is a day to remember He who gave his life for our sins, Be sure to give thanks for for what he has done for us

April 5, 2007

  • Well here we go again big differents from the other day when we were bike ridding today the temp bottomed out with a high temp of 25 deg's man was it cold and snowy again but it is still spring, we do get snow till around the middle of April but what is nice about this time of the year is it could snow today and in fact this week but by the middle of next week the snow will be gone in fact I can remember one spring we had a 3 foot dumping and by the following weekend it was gone, it is just that time of the year, and when you live in the Mountains you get use to it,

Didn't do too much today and man did I get cold I just hope that I don't get that flu that is going around the Wife had it and she was sick for 3 days but today she is finally feeling better and going back to work tomorrow so I guess that isn't too bad,

Tomorrow is Good Friday one of the most Holy Days of the year, When Jesus died for all of our Sins and on Sunday like Christmas it is the Day When Jesus Rises from the dead to prove he is the real son Of God may all of you have a very joyous Easter and Give Thanks to our Living God
